Over the weekend, the hubby and I flew down to New Orleans for my dear friend
Paige's wedding.
gotta love the fake smile!
We were so excited to be down there to celebrate this fabulous event! But over the course of the wedding day, it became very clear it was going to be like
Charlotte's 2nd wedding from Sex and The City..."the worse the wedding, the better the marriage"!
But unlike, Charlotte...Paige never didn't sweat the small stuff! So we get to the hotel and Paige comes to see us. She gets a call that it looks like the chances of rain are much higher for the wedding the next day. So, should she pay extra and get the tent? Her reception was half indoors/half outdoors. I said, you would be upset to pay a lot of money and not have it rain, but it would be worse to rain, and not have the tent. Thank goodness she went for the tent!
So Saturday morning I woke up a bit hungover, did I mention it was New Orleans? and we stayed 1 block from burbon street? and it was New Orleans? On our way back to our room on Friday night, here is what we saw!
This guy was outside his room, on the floor, with jeans and a pillow in his hand, in his underwear. The person on the other side of the door was laughing hysterically. It reminded me of one particular
TMI Thursday story I remember reading. HILARIOUS! Anyway, back to Saturday--I went to meet everyone in the "TENNESSEE WILLIAMS" suite to get ready!
Tennessee Williams Suite
Kaley and the Mother of the Bride getting pretty
Colleen and Mary Carlisle joined the Bride and M.O.H in the suite.
MC was the flower girl and absolutely adorable!
She is Super Cute!
After we got ready, we all went outside the hotel to ake our Bridesmaid/Bride pictures. I will hopefully get more pictures later! The rain wouldn't let up, so we stood under an awning in the hotel. We then went back and changed out of our dresses to head to the church.
The start of the mini-disasters
2) Paige's zipper broke on her dress bag, so we carried it like a dead body all wrapped up so it wouldn't get soaked. It was big and heavy!
3) A few bridesmaid dresses fell off the hangers and got soaked in the process of running from car to church
4) the buses were late picking up the guest at the church and the ceremony had to start late b/c there were no guests.
During the ceremony, when he said "does anyone legally feel there is a reason that Paige and Joe should not get married" , she slowly turned her head to see if anyone would...it was hilarious and so Paige! During the ceremony you could hear thunder, but it was actually really cool sounding...and at all the right silences!
5) The bus did not come back to pick up the wedding party after the ceremony. We were all waiting on the front steps...and you could tell Paige was starting to stress out. They were missing their party...where is the fun in that?
So a thoughtful wedding party member handed Paige some good ole Tennessee Whiskey!
Cheers! Here she is on the phone with the bus company as we wait for our ride.
I actually think this should be a Jack Daniels ad!
Finally, the bus arrives and we are off to party!
At this point, the hubby is taking all the pics!
The First Dance
The Father Daughter Dance
Her dress is beautiful!
So Sweet!
The night went on with eating, drinking, and dancing!
When it was time to throw the boquet...Paige was ready.
This is probably her favorite part of the wedding b/c she has caught quite a few herself!
She had her sights on someone...
Her sister Rachel-She tured and threw it right to her!
After the band played, the bride and groom came back outside following a "2nd Line" (i think thats it). This is a traditional new orleans band that had the crowd following, including Paige and Joe with umbrellas.
This was really neat and a great way to end the party!
From the reception, the plan was for the wedding party to hop on the street car and head downtown. Well, in true mini-disaster fashion, the street car never showed...so it was back on the bus!
Paige certainly didn't care...SHE IS MRS.HUGG!
a sign of a great time!
and it's off to burbon!
Close up with my friend Crystal...she is in Dallas now, so we never see each other!
I discovered the hubby and I dont have any pics together...but we have plenty with others!
with the parents of the birde after the wedding!
Overall, it was a beautiful wedding and a lot of fun! The little things that went wrong made for a very memorable wedding!
xoxo to Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hugg
(the final disaster will be on tomorrow)
